Senior Director of Engineering

Job Locations HU-Budapest




As Senior Director of Engineering, you are will be leading, growing and providing technical expertise to an established global engineering teams (Hungary, Israel and Ukraine), and will collaborate with other stakeholders located in global locations.


You will be managing, hiring, developing, and retaining a cross-functional team of Software Engineers while implementing best practice engineering processes.

You will be responsible for the design and delivery of Bold360’s AI-led suite as well as for the maintenance of the current Bold360 offerings.

You will lead a global group of engineer's teams is Budapest, Herzliya and Ukraine, each of which plays a key role in planning and execution.

      • Coach them how to manage different situations (conflict handling, absence of team members, solve a technical challenge, learn huge amount of something new in short time)
      • Encourage them to be proactive, independent and always get things done. Find a solution effectively.

    • Inspire and encourage individuals to take responsibility and ownership


  • Improve engineering efficiency and engineering maturity
    • Identify gaps or missing pieces in the technical processes and/or knowledge and evangelize for the industry best practices
    • Foster and support the implementation of innovative ideas
    • Influence the product roadmap to consciously balance between speed of delivery and sustainability







  • People Management
    • Recruit, hire, train and mentor the developers within the team
    • Write performance reviews and provide quality feedback regularly to help people grow
    • Discuss and help guide activities to support team members' career development
    • Build the team: Foster a positive team environment in which people feel valued
    • Set clear and challenging performance goals for the team members


  • Execution and Development
    • Support relevant part of the development: design, implementation, testing, deployment, operation, and maintenance
    • Coordinate activities with other managers, Architects, and PMs to help the team members accomplish business goals
    • Analyze, develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for the engineering
    • Build strong internal culture aligned with the company culture
    • Develop and engage with local tech community







  • Proven track record of understanding product development life cycles with various product maturity levels (from “green field” to “legacy”)
  • Experience in enterprise level product development
  • 3+ years of prior experience in managing teams across multiple geographies.
  • Up to 50% Travel to our global offices
  • Experience in B2B (enterprise customers a plus), SaaS company  
  • Engineering Management experience in both startup and corporate. - 5+ years of hands-on experience in an engineering director role or similar
  • Experienced with mentoring engineers in multi-cultural environment, recruiting, driving them to success.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with server side (Java, .Net) and algorithms
  • Experience in designing and deploying Enterprise-scale SaaS solutions, considering scale, robustness, security aspects.
  • AWS/Cloud experience - big Plus
  • Experience working in agile environment
  • BSC or higher degree
  • Experience with AI technologies (e.g. NLP) is a definitive advantage
  • Proficient in English must, Hungarian is a plus.
