    Currently, we’re searching for a high caliber and innovative Big Data and Analytics Staff Engineer who will provide technical leadership to the team building the next generation data platform on Cloud using cutting edge technologies like Spark, Presto, AWS EMR, Pig, Hive, Lambda, R, Kinesis and Oozie amongst others.

    Responsibilities

    • As a specialist in multiple areas, responsibly plans, prioritizes, organizes and performs technical work and ensures the integrity of significant and diverse projects
    • Leads the implementation, unit testing, debugging and integration of highly complex code across multiple concurrent projects; oversees the design, development and execution of tests to verify the functionality, accuracy, and efficiency of developed or enhanced software; reviews results analyses for conformance to plans and specifications making recommendations based on the results; leads design changes or enhancements as necessary
    • Drives process enhancements and leads working groups in improving specific work practices in the wider organization (e.g., requirement specification, peer review, coding standards); leads continuous quality improvement in meeting internal and external customer requirements (including customer escalation and cross-team support)
    • Provides technical direction and leadership to a group or project team; leads scrum/project team members in prioritizing and resolving issues and improving productivity and velocity to improve future results; mentors and motivates team members to achieve and exceed project goals through innovation and productivity improvements
    • Proactively networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise and other departments

    (Products, Marketing, Sales, Care) on technical matters and prototype designs and may work closely with vendors or customers on technical information or modifications related to design, development, and research projects

    • Actively pursues and leads others in acquiring information and training regarding trends and advancements for mission critical technologies, and identifies opportunities for others to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge where applicable; attends technical conferences as appropriate and shares acquired knowledge and insights with others; recommends and leads peer-training activities
    • Complete ownership and accountability in delivering the work that he/she is responsible for

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science or related field is preferred, with a minimum of 8 years of directly related work experience
    • Hands-on experience designing, developing and maintaining high-volume ETL processes using Big Data technologies like Spark, Presto, Hive, Pig, Oozie, AWS EMR
    • Expertise in using Spark (pySpark or Scala) in high scale environments. Experience in tuning jobs for performance and scalability.
    • Sound knowledge of Java to leverage Big Data technologies
    • Solid understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and Dimensional Data Modeling. Experience in data modeling on Big Data platforms
    • Strong SQL and Stored Procedure development skills. Knowledge of NoSQL is desirable
    • Understanding of one of the visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, QlikView, Birst
    • Knowledge of SDLC and Agile development methodologies
    • Expertise in OOAD principles and methodologies (e.g., UML) and OS concepts
    • Experience leading the implementation, unit testing, debugging and integration of highly complex code across multiple concurrent projects and overseeing the design, development and execution of tests
    • Exposure to Machine Learning technologies and tools desirable
    • Experience independently publishing patents, papers, blogs, and creating and presenting briefings to technical and non-technical audiences
    • Experience leading communities of practice
