  • Overview

    The Staff Engineer will be an agile architect for the design, development and support of the Bengaluru commerce team. This engineer will work with the Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership to the rest of commerce team engineers in Bengaluru. As a staff engineer, this role is vital for analyzing requirements, designing the solution, coding, being a mentor to other junior engineers and provide guidance to make the team effective. The Staff Engineer will work with the Engineering Manager to establish standard Engineering processes and guidelines and encourage engineers to adhere to it.


    • You provide technical leadership, driving and performing best engineering practices to execute large-scale functional requirements in the commerce platform.
    • You will write high quality code, design components of varying complexity, make architectural tradeoffs and apply relevant design patterns, delivering with speed and quality.
    • You will be held as a role model in the team, and an effective influencer beyond the individual technical contributions, steering the team towards better technical solutions.
    • You will actively mentor junior engineers and interact with other commerce teams which are geo-distributed and contribute towards shared technical goals.


    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field is preferred.
    • 8+ years of experience in working on large-scale, distributed, highly-available systems.
    • Excellent Java, J2EE skills, and experience with current frameworks (Spring, Spring Cloud, MicroServices, etc).
    • Proven experience on AWS technologies (Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS, etc.)
    • Advanced knowledge of Configuration Management tools, CICD, and related tools (GIT, Jenkins, Artifactory, Docker).
    • Sound understanding of software architecture and design patterns. Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills for high-impact solutions. Experience in HLD and LLD.
    • Deep experience in working with SQL and NoSQL databases like Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
